The Great Hall, Kent College, Canterbury

Overview

HMY has worked with Kent College in Canterbury to
build a new Great Hall building, which now acts as the new focal
point of the campus and provides professional quality
music and theatre facilities as well as central hall for
assembly and chapel services.

The new hall can accommodate up to 600
seated but also adapt to a smaller audience of 350 for music
and drama performances.

The building provides a foyer and gallery space, back
of house accommodation including green rooms and scene
dock.

The innovative project is fully naturally ventilated, utilising the below ground ‘labyrinth’ to negate the need for large mechanical air handling plant and air conditioning.
